Our dedicated volunteers are the eyes and ears of Meals on Wheels PLUS. They are a vital link to our program’s success because of their daily, personal contact with clients. Volunteers provide a helping hand in numerous ways. Described here are a few of the ways volunteers can help make a difference. The number of volunteers we need fluctuates greatly during the year.

Meals on Wheels PLUS depends solely upon its volunteers to deliver daily meals. They have described this as the best job they’ve ever had. Delivering meals only requires 1½ hours, one day per week. If a specific area is desired, routes are conveniently available throughout Manatee County and several options are available for meal pickups.
The Food Bank
There is always a need for a helping hand at the Food Bank of Manatee. As food donations come in, volunteers are needed to sort foods into like-kind categories. They also assist in packing food baskets for babies and crisis stabilization kits for needy families in our area. There are also opportunities to distribute summer hunger sacks.
Adult Day Center
Daybreak Adult Day Center serves functionally impaired adults in Manatee County with a planned program that includes a variety of health, social, and supportive services in a protective setting during daytime hours. Volunteers assist the professionally trained staff, including an LPN, who operate the program’s daily activities.
Special Events and
Join us for special fund raising events throughout the year to benefit Meals on Wheels PLUS. Your school, club, business, or organization can become involved. Contact us to find out what is coming up next.
Occasionally we are in need of volunteers in our main office for clerical work like stuffing or labeling envelopes. If you enjoy office work, let us know and we will add you to the contact list.
Your time and talents may be needed at our Friendship Dining Centers, where seniors gather each weekday morning to exercise, enjoy entertainment, learn arts & crafts, and share a hot noon-time meal.
